Create an original piece of theatre with your peers, guided by La Jolla Playhouse Master Teaching Artists.
La Jolla Playhouse is known for putting up the new and the next on our stages by innovative playwrights. Join us (virtually!) for a week this summer as we explore the devised theatre process and collaborate as an ensemble to create an original piece of theatre to be performed in an online format. Our “Lab Technicians” will participate in theatre games, ensemble building exercises, and experiment to create a new piece of theatre that has never been performed before.
Join us for one week or multiple weeks! Each week will produce a new, different play!
All Lab classes will take place on Zoom. Students will receive an email two days before the class begins with login/password information.
Learning Objectives for The Lab:
-Building Character Onstage & Off
-Create a level of awareness that theatre can create change towards social justice
-Students will understand the fundamentals of devising process
-Process should be student driven as much as possible
