For the first regular production of its 55th season Costa Mesa Playhouse presents the hilarious spoof of Alfred Hitchcock’s spy thriller
Mix a Hitchcock film masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have the riotous whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. The show hurtles a notorious fugitive and a spellbound blonde from a London music hall north by northwest to Scotland’s most remote highlands. Will they save Britain from a den of devious spies? A cast of four actors plays over 150 characters in Patrick Barlow’s fast-paced adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1935 thriller, which was based on John Buchan’s 1915 novel.
Winner of two Tony Awards, the Drama Desk Award, and the 2007 Olivier Award for Best Comedy.
“The 39 Steps” is directed by Chris Mertan, and stars Aaron Alford, Caroline Jones, Peter Hilton, and Michael Kaye.
