Two feuding families rule Verona, with the Montagues and Capulets each determined to write their victory in blood. A chance meeting between Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet sparks a forbidden romance. But it wouldn’t be a Shakespearean tragedy without...well...tragedy.

In a word - opulent!
This production is lavish across the board. Scenic design, costumes, lightning and choreography (Kitty McNamee) are all first class. The rich vocals as provided by the LA Opera Chorus and the ensemble are as good as it gets!
Duke Kim and Amina Edris triumph in their LA Opera debut as Romeo and Juliet. Also thought Wei Wu, bass as Friar Laurence was a stand out in this incredibly talented ensemble. A nod to Maestro Domingo Hindoyan for his masterful execution of Charles Gounod's score.
