Beverly Hills National Auditions Winners on Classical Crossroads' "The Interludes" series in Torrance CA
With praise from the Boston Globe, "heavenly with remarkable charming tones,"and from Piano Music Magazine, Seoul as "a thrilling blend of fire and lyricism," pianist Hye Won Souh is a performer known for her exceptional musicality. After studying at Ye-Won School of the Arts in South Korea, she came to the U.S. and continued at Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Boston. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and her Master's from Seoul National University. Ms. Souh won prestigious international competitions, including Grand Prize at the Johannes Brahms Association Competition and finalist at the Stravinsky Awards International Competition, as well as winning the NEC Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Competition and the BSO Concerto Competition.
As Grand Prize winner in the 61st Washington International Competition for Piano, Somang Jeagal was awarded a $10,000 prize, as well as a concerto appearance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and a solo recital on the prestigious Phillips Collection Recital Series. Somang also won the 2014 Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, receiving an all-expense-paid trip to present a solo recital at the Liszt Museum in Budapest, Hungary. Somang Jeagal graduated from Seoul National University with Bachelor and Master of Music degrees, and earned the coveted Artist Diploma under Professor Kevin Fitz-Gerald at the USC Thornton School of Music.
