Conductor Martin Haselböck leads the Orchester Wiener Akademie in Mozart’s hauntingly beautiful choral masterpiece, Requiem. Today, Requiem is without a doubt one of Mozart’s most performed and beloved works, continuing to move audiences with its powerful choruses and elegant arias.
Formed in 1985, Orchester Wiener Akademie is the only Austrian orchestra to offer performances on period instruments. With a broad repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary music, the orchestra also includes modern instruments.
The Austrian organist and conductor Martin Haselböck is regarded as one of today's most important artists working in the world of historical performance. Born into a musical Viennese family, he pursued studies in Vienna and Paris. After winning several international competitions, he gained an early reputation as an organ soloist, working with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Lorin Maazel, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Riccardo Muti and many others.
