LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & McCOY RIGBY ENTERTAINMENT welcome you back into their newly renovated theatre to find yourself singing along to the electric and exhilarating, MAMMA MIA!, music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and some songs with Stig Anderson, book by Catherine Johnson, originally conceived by Judy Craymer, with musical direction by Keith Thompson, choreography by Dana Solimando and directed by T.J. Dawson.  MAMMA MIA! will preview on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 8 pm & Saturday, October 30 at 2 pm (with a press opening on Saturday, October 30 at 8 pm) and run through Sunday, November 21, 2021 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada.

On the eve of her wedding on an idyllic Greek island, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings back three men from her mother's past. Featuring over 20 ABBA songs, including the hits “Dancing Queen” and “Take a Chance on Me,” this fresh new look at the high-spirited, feel-good sensation will have you dancing in the aisles! Recommended for ages 13 and up.    

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM AND CAST

T.J. DAWSON (Director) is the Executive Producer for 3-D Theatricals and is making his La Mirada Theatre debut. T.J. has received Ovation nominations, and an L.A. Drama Critics Circle Lifetime Achievement Award for his direction of Parade (4 Ovation awards including Best Musical) and Ragtime. He was last seen at La Mirada as “Big Bopper” in The Buddy Holly Story.  Directing: The Drowsy Chaperone, All Shook Up, The Sound of Music, A Chorus Line, Avenue Q (Ovation Nomination), 9 to 5, Into the Woods, Peter Pan, Ragtime, Side Show (Robby Award Best Director, Best Musical), The Addams Family, Hello, Dolly!, Beauty and the Beast, The Full Monty, Oklahoma!, The Secret Garden, The Wild Party, Bat Boy: The Musical, Cabaret, Seussical the Musical and West Side Story.

DANA SOLIMANDO (Choreographer) Recent LMT/MRE credits include: American Idiot (2016 Ovation nomination), Cabaret, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Rent, Spring Awakening and Billy Elliot (2015 LADCC Award nomination). Other favorites: 3D Theatricals: Ragtime (2015 Ovation nomination), Parade (2013 Ovation nomination), Damn Yankees (2014 Ovation nomination), The Addams Family, Hairspray, All Shook Up, Swing! (2004 and 2006 Ovation Award - Best Choreography). Miss Saigon - Macau International Arts Festival/MRE 2012 Ovation nomination), Jesus Christ Superstar national tour (NAACP Theatre Award nomination) and the world premiere of Rebel Genius. Other credits: Sacramento Music Circus: Hair, La Cage Aux Folles, and The Wizard of Oz, Rubicon: Little Miss Scrooge (world premiere), 5th Avenue: The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Dana is also co-writer/director/choreographer for Maestro and Rte. 66 on Crystal Cruises and director/choreographer for the national tour of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer the Musical.

KEITH THOMPSON (Musical Director) was director/producer of The Cocktail Cabaret at Caesars Palace, founder and host of The Composers Showcase, featuring all original music at The Smith Center in Las Vegas. Professional credits include musical director for Las Vegas companies of Jersey Boys, The Producers, Hairspray, and We Will Rock You as well as first national tours of Mamma Mia! and Cabaret. Keith is co-composer of IDAHO! The Comedy-Musical, “Best in Fest” at NYMF 2008, presented in first-class production at The Smith Center in 2016. Keith was vocal director and arranger for “RoundHouse,” a television series aired on the Nickelodeon Network.

The Cast for MAMMA MIA! features Marie-France Arcilla as “Donna Sheridan,” Eric Kunze as “Sam Carmichael,” Gabriela Carrillo as “Sophie Sheridan,” Taubert Nadalini as “Sky,” Danny Bernardo as “Harry Bright,” Michael Cavinder as “Bill Austin,” Emily King Brown as “Tanya,” Candi Milo as “Rosie,” Joi D. McCoy as “Ali,” Momoko Sugai as “Lisa,” Rodrigo Varandas as “Pepper,” Dillon Klena as “Eddie,” and Dylan Pass as “Father Alexandrios.”

The Ensemble will feature Chris Bona, Gillian Bozajian, Markesha Chatfield, Juan Guillen, Brandon Halvorsen, Michael James, Ashley En-Fu Matthews, Jonathan McGill, Isabella Olivas, Christina Papandrea, Kelly Powers-Figueroa, Hannah Jean Simmons, Scott Spraags,
Fana Tesfagiorgis and Adam Turney.

The Design Team for MAMMA MIA! is as follows: Scenic Design by Stephen Gifford Lighting Design by Jean-Yves Tessier Projection Design by Jon Infante Sound Design by Cricket S. Myers Costume Design by Winfield Murdock Hair/Wig/Makeup Design by Kaitlin McCoy Properties Design by Kevin Williams, Melanie Cavaness and Gretchen Morales.

The Casting Director is Julia Flores and the Production Stage Manager is Jill Gold.

ABOUT THE SCHEDULE AND PRICING

MAMMA MIA! will preview on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 8 pm & Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 2 pm (with a press opening on Saturday, October 30 at 8 pm) and run through Sunday, November 21, 2021 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada.  

Performances are Thursdays at 7:30 pm Fridays at 8 pm Saturdays at 2 pm & 8 pm
& Sundays at 1:30 pm & 6:30 pm.  

There will be no performance on Sunday, October 31 at 6:30 pm. There will be an Open-Captioned performance on Saturday, November 13 at 2 pm. Talkbacks with the cast and creative team will be on Thursday, November 4 & Thursday, November 18, 2021.  

Tickets range from $17 - $89 (prices subject to change) and can be purchased at La Mirada Theatre’s website, www.lamiradatheatre.com, by visiting the La Mirada Theatre Box Office, or by calling the La Mirada Theatre Box Office at (562) 944-9801 or (714) 994-6310. Group discounts are available.  $15 Student Tickets are available. Children under 3 will not be admitted into the theatre.

The Box Office is open Monday through Friday 11:00 am until 5:30 pm Saturdays and Sundays 12 noon until 4 pm and closed on non-performance Sundays.  On performance days, the Box Office will remain open until one half hour after curtain.

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS is located at 14900 La Mirada Boulevard in La Mirada, near the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue where the 91 and 5 freeways meet.  Parking is free.

As La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts continues to follow the County and State Public Health guidelines, please note: The State of California requires Proof of Full Vaccination or a Negative Covid-19 Test (taken within 72 hours of the event) in order to enter indoor events where attendance is expected at 1,000 or more.  We will be following this guidance, which is currently in place (until further notice) for all performances.
Full vaccination means your performance is at least 14 days after your final vaccine dose. To enter the theatre, please bring a photo ID and proof of vaccination, either your physical vaccination card, a picture of your vaccination card, or a digital vaccination record.  Masks are required indoors regardless of vaccination status. Eating and drinking will be allowed in designated areas.
