Awe and Wonder

Awe and WonderFour choreographers create new dances inspired by their conversations with four scientists. The innovative performance and post-performance discussion with the scientists and choreographers examines the unexpected ways that creativity manifests.

Four choreographers are paired with four scientists and out of their shared dialogue a new dance is created.  The resulting dance is informed by science in some way rather than a literal demonstration and examines the myriad ways scientists and choreographers collaborate.  The performance is followed by a post-performance discussion where the scientists and choreographers talk about their experiences working together.  Both the choreographers and scientists come from diverse backgrounds, with the express purpose of seeing how different cultural viewpoints influence the interpretation and expression of scientific themes.  The participating choreographers are Bridgette Dunn-Korpela, James Gregg, Aparna Sindhoor, Anil Natyaveda and Donna Sternberg.  The scientists also span a wide range including Devavani Chatterjea (immunology), Frank Corsetti (geology), Shehla Pervin (cancer research) and Chelsey VanDrisse (microbiology).
