This classic comedy mixes farce, mystery, and the macabre as skillfully as its sweet elderly heroines mix their poisons. Performed on six evenings in Pasadena in the oak-shaded garden of Caltech's historic Alumni House.
The Caltech Players present the classic comedy ARSENIC AND OLD LACE (directed by Penelope Chan) starting Friday, August 9.
Everyone loves the elderly Brewster sisters...they've devoted their lives to tending the ill, befriending the lonely, and caring for a nephew who's convinced he's Teddy Roosevelt. These darling old ladies would never do anything wrong...right? So why do elderly gentlemen keep disappearing? And just what is in their cellar...or their homemade elderberry wine?
This "weird and wonderful" play mixes farce, romance, satire, mystery, and goofy comedy to create a mixture that is indisputably unique...rather like that intoxicating wine. This creates a darkly hilarious evening of mirth and mayhem.
ARSENIC AND OLD LACE is produced by arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
